From the Wikipedia entry on New Haven:
"The New Haven Coliseum, an egregious example of failed modernism leading to urban blight, was built in 1972 to accommodate a variety of entertainment functions for greater New Haven. It is currently being destroyed due to its disfunctional design and financial drain on the City. Most understand that the facility is hopelessly outdated; that the parking garage, accessed via a quarter-mile double circular ramp, has failed to attract usage; and that the City and state Hotel-Motel Tax subsidies that had been devoted to the facility will be better applied to other priorities."
